De Bello Gallico (The War in Gaul)
In this series, Dr. Noe looks at De Bello Gallico (The War in Gaul), a commentary on the Roman wars written by Julius Caesar.
Gaul is the Latin word for what we would now call France, Switzerland, and Belgium, and Julius Caesar fought there from 58 B.C. to 50 B.C. (for context: he was assassinated in the Senate 6 years later, in 44 B.C.).
De Bello Gallico is an illuminating combination of military, political history and ethnography.
